Mrs. Claus’s 2024 Cookie Recipe

(makes 12 regular-sized cookies or 6 huge cookies)

Each year, Mrs. Claus makes a new cookie recipe for Santa. This year, she has made a Chocolate chip cookie with a dash of sea-salt on top. We hope you enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 C melted unsalted butter cooled to room temperature
  • 1/2 C light brown sugar
  • 1/3 C granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 1/3 C all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate

Method:

Preheat oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium sized bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, add melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, and mix on medium for 1-2 minutes until sugar is fully incorporated. Add the egg and vanilla and continue to mix until everything is fully combined. Add dry ingredients from the medium-sized bowl into the wet batter and gently fold in until just combined. Add chocolate chips and mix with spatula. Do not overmix the batter.

Scoop out 12 tablespoon size balls of cookie dough onto the parchment paper. Place no more than 4 cookies on a large baking tray, as they spread while baking. Bake for 12 minutes.

They should come out golden and crispy on the edges and gooey in the center. Allow them to cool completely before serving. To make large cookies, increase heat to 375, double the size of cookie dough balls, and flatten them before putting them into the oven so they cook more evenly. Bake no more than 3 large-sized cookies at a time.

Hint: For a little extra kick, try adding sea-salt flakes as they come out of the oven.
